For all troubleshooting first always make sure you software is up to date.

 

If the Traction Control window does not show 'connected' when the Traction Control module is plugged in, follow the USB driver installation instructions.

 

No reading from the ABS sensors

 

If you has just installed ABS sensors into your vehicle, check that the sensor to tooth clearance is 0.7 - 1.2mm. For some vehicles where ABS was not standard equipment, the sensor register area on the front strut may need to be ground down slightly to give the correct clearance.

 

Check you have identified the ABS sensor type and set the Traction Control module sensor type switch correctly.

 

With induction sensors,  with any ABS computer unplugged, measure the resistance between each wheel speed sensor input at the connector which plugs into the Traction Control module.  The resistance should be be 800 - 1000 ohms.

 

With active sensors the resistance between each wheel speed sensor input at the connector (Traction Control module unplugged) should be infinity.

 

Jack each side of the vehicle up and spin each wheel in turn.  With the Traction Control module powered up, the each wheel speed light should come on if the wheel is turning.  Normally the wheel does not need to be spun very fast (1 mph or so).

 

No Traction Control operation

 

Use the Testing function to check that the Traction Control to ECU input is working correctly.

 

Check in the ECU software that the Traction Control is enabled and the retard / rev limit settings are correct.

 

Check the wheel speeds are logged correctly and the TC.Slip is around 0% when at a constant speed.

 

Traction Control allows too much wheel spin

 

Decrease the target slip.

 

In the ECU software increase the amount of retard / rev limit.

 

Traction Control operation bogs the engine

 

Increase the target slip.

 

In the ECU software increase the activation rpm and/or speed.

 

Traction Control operation results in bunny hops

 

In the ECU software decrease the amount of retard / rev limit.

 

Check the Output Setup voltage parameters are correct for the ECU type.

 

If using PID output control, decrease the P gain.
