Tuning VTEC OFF

Post by DKetchie »

New here...

Is there a correct way to turn VTEC off with flashpro? I have read things like setting the vtec engagement rpm to 10k or something crazy, but I have also read where that doesnt work. What about setting the minimum speed or min temp to a higher threshold?

I have a race on only k20z3, with vtec elimination camshafts. (only the large profile). My builder is telling me to use a vtec elimination plate to ensure better head oiling and turn the vtec off in the ecu.

If I use the vtec elimination plate and dont turn vtec off in the ecu, wont I get some kind of code and go into limp mode?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

There is no way to turn it off. You would have to change the settings such that they are not met to activate VTEC.

Thank you,

So setting one of the parameters….like rpm, temp, or speed requirements to a number that won’t be reached is an acceptable method?

That will be the only option. You should also set the VTEC point much higher than you will be revving it.
