Looks good, we will now move to the 40* cam angle with vtec at 5500. We move vtec up and down over this and the next revision to find an ideal vtec rpm. For this next datalog, you can make it ten minutes in length just be sure to get a clean third gear pull like you've been doing. We only have this one, and one more after it, then I blend everything out using the data. So we're almost there, to where you get to feel a glimpse of the overall product.

The car seems like its performing a lot better than before. It's a little weird only having one Vtec cross over point.

Yeah once we blend out the tables and the cam rotates as we design it, it will feel a lot better. These locked cam angles are weird to drive on because each of them have their own powerband, so it feels strong in some areas and not in others. It shows you why the VTC is so important on these cars and how it makes them feel strong all over the rpm range. And the vtec rpm is just for tuning, in the end it will have a window for vtec just like OEM, the lower limit will be one rpm and upper limit will be 5500.

Here is the next one. This is the 40* cam angle with vtec at 4000 now. Take it for another ten minute datalog with a third gear pull when you can.

Okay it looks really good. It's running out of breath on the 40* cam angle as to be expected with only an intake. So I've gone in and blended out all the fuel tables and cam angles. Vtec appears to be happiest at 4800, but we can try moving it up or down a few hundred rpm if you want. See how it is at 4800 first. So the vtec window is 4800-5500.

Take this one for another twenty minute drive, with at least one third gear WOT pull. But feel free to drive it however you want and make whatever pulls you want. It's plenty safe to have some fun with if you want.

Well I definitely had fun with this tune sense you said it was plenty safe to have some fun with. I drove past a cop at the very end going 80 in a 55 so yeah that's why the datalog looks like that at the end

It looks great man, sorry about the cop. I made a couple 1% fuel changes here and there, just nitpicking pretty much. It looks great, take this one for a spin when you can, no rush. It's 99% there, and should be 100% with this revision. So take it for a spin when you can, with gas prices there is no need to run out and make aimless datalogs unless you want to. We'll see how this one looks.

I don't mind making datalogs, I love driving my car I was off work for 3 days, so I had time to run out and do these datalogs. I'm going to work today, so I will send the next datalog around 4 AM.

The car is 100% driving better, it's definitely more responsive on the throttle and shifting.

Yeah it all looks killer, the part throttle fuel is great, idle fuel is dead on, and the WOT fuel is right there until the redline where it goes a little rich. So I pulled some fuel right there at redline, other than that it looks great. Take this one for a spin whenever you want, just be sure to get a clean third gear pull. We should be there on this one, but we'll see how it looks.

A/F ratios were jumping to 12.5 when I would go for a pull.

I thought my A/F ratio was intended to stay at 14.7 the entire time I was driving, but I learned that during WOT A/F ratios should be in the range of 11.5-13.3. My A/F looks very good.

Yeah 11.5-11.8 is more for boosted applications. For an NA K series, for gasoline, you want to shoot for 12.8-13.1 or so. But 14.7 is for part throttle and idle, that provides the best fuel economy and is stoichiometric for gasoline.

That one looked really good. Go ahead and make another datalog with that calibration when you have time and we'll see how it looks. If it stays solid like that, I think we're there.
