None of the FK8s have an oil temperature sensor. The oil temperature is estimated by the Honda app.

Hi,
I have a FK8 (EU) of 2017. I'm interest by FlashPro, and I'm came accross this post while researching the caracteritic of your product and I'm surprise by your reponse.
The Honda HDS display oil temperature and oil pressure values from the engine ecu. I have read several time that the engine doesn't have temp sensor but I have analysed the HDS temps value and it correlated with usual engine oil temp (idem for pressure). Are you sure that the engine doesn't have oil sensors for temp and pressure ?

There's no oil temperature sensor that we can find in the parts list and no wiring connection to the ECU.

But if you has access to the factory wiring diagrams and parts list then double check.

Effectively the wiring diagram and the part list doesn't mensionned any oil temperature sensor but I have found 3 temperatures sensors with the HDS, ect1, ect2 and potential oil sensors. The 3 indiquated the ambiante temperature when the car is cold and after 5 minutes ect1 is at 80°C and after 10min ect2 is at 70°C. The potential oil temp sensor is bettwen 30-50°C after 5-10min and at 80°C after 15-20min. The maximum value reach to 100°C and depend of the driving. Thank you for your answer, I will continue to investigate where this temperature value may come from.

I have resolved my interrogation, I have localised the engine oil temps sensor on my car and it is probably not mont on your US version.
I find it on the french part list but not in your US part list.

If you can tell me what ECU pin it is wired to that would help.

Any update on this? So do we have an oil temp/pressure sensor on 2020+ FK8?

Every FK8 has an oil pressure sensor. It seems that the Euro FK8 may have a temperature sensor. The US/Canada vehicles do not.

I am under the impression the sensor may be included as part of the oil level sensor on the oil pan, included on EU Cars under the black cover plate on the sump:-
https://www.parts-honda.uk/honda-cars/a ... 7310RSXG01

Hella PN 6PR 011.515-00 (Though I can't find it in their public catalogue which makes specific information on the part harder to find, there are some similar parts in the 6PR 01... Part number range listed here: https://www.hella.com/soe-electronics/a ... LLA_EN.pdf )

When using an Autel AP200 Scanner on a UK 2019 Car, I do have access to an oil level measurement and a seemingly accurate oil temperature (I've checked it on drives, after restarts and battery pulls etc. and it's always been consistent, Even if it were a calculated value it'd be useful to have)

As for the PIDs or pins to ECU, That's a bit harder given the only wiring diagrams I have are for US Cars, but I'll see what I can find. The part is also present on the FK2, So may be something useful there too.

It seems that sensor has temperature as well as level.

However when I look in the ECU code it uses a model based on coolant temperature and ambient air temperature. Being Bosch they might have three different models as well as an actual sensor and then use one of them.

Probably it would be good to check a wiring diagram as well.

The Datasheet of these sensors says:
The PWM output signal consists of three pulses that are repeated cyclically every 1,000 ms ± 10%. The pulses contain encoded information on the oil temperature, oil level and diagnosis..
So if the ECU listens for the oil level, it eventually gets the oil temp, too. So either the Bosch ecu simply discards that information, or it's stored somewhere and we just have to find the right data address.

Fairly sure that's the value given when using the Autel OBD2 monitor (As I think I mentioned), so It's certainly not outright discarded by the ECU - I still need to see if I can get the PID somehow.
