Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Hi i need help i have a 2012 civic si coupe the car is completely stock, i have a Invidia q300 2.75” catback exhaust and injen Sp cold air intake. What map should i use for this mods? I would also like rev hang to be removed and the speed limiter removed. Thanks!
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
I can help you with it if you'd like. Are the mods already installed, or waiting to go on? Do you plan to add any other performance mods any time soon?
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Yes I’d appreciate it. I have those 2 mods currently already installed, I was looking for a skunk2 downpipe soon in the next months
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Okay. I generally like to tune them the long way where we tune each cam angle individually and then blend everything out. But since you're going to swap out the DP in a few months, I would say let's tune it on a completed file for now and then when you get the new DP we can do it the proper way so that you get the full benefits of the DP. The short route will still take 4-6 revisions to get it dialed.
Here is the first calibration for you. Take this one for a drive and we'll see how it looks. On your drives, we need the datalogs to be in the 20 minute range with as much stop and go type driving as possible. The stop and go driving gives us a lot more data to use. On the drive, you need to make one wide open throttle (WOT) pull in third gear from 2500-7600 rpms so we can see the WOT fueling. On this first drive, only do one WOT pull so I can make any big changes before you get aggressive with the driving. On the next one, you can drive it however you'd like, for now though just the one WOT pull.
Let me know of you have any questions. Rev hang and speed limiter are turned off per your request.

Got it thank you, I will data log when I get a chance this week. How much do you charge btw?
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
I leave the money up to you guys. If you're happy at the end want to throw me a few bucks that's cool, if not that's fine too. If we end up doing a complete tune when you get the DP down the road, then I would appreciate a little something because that will be more work.

Got it I understand I didn't expect it to be free. So here is the first data log.

Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Looks really good for a start. I made some part throttle and WOT fueling changes. I also cleaned up the ignition where we saw some knock. Take this one for the same type of 20 minute drive with the WOT pull from 2500-7600 in third gear.
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Got it, I saw some knocks yea. Question Is it fine to have a few knocks or is it always supposed to be at zero. I’ll send that next data log tomorrow afternoon. Thanks!
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
It’s okay to have an occasional knock, but we shoot for 0 knock in the tuning process to make sure we’ve addressed possible areas of knock. Where yours had knock is the most common area on 9th gens, so it isn’t anything strange. So yeah, our goal is 0 knock that way you can be confident and have fun with it. I leave all protections and compensation in place for weather and knock, so if it does see knock it goes in and pulls timing to protect the engine just like factory.
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Here is the second data log. Can I drive aggressively or still drive more calm? And I know these cars don't redline at that high so is it okay that redline is at 7600?

Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Yeah you can get after it now in this revision. I just like to keep everything calm for the first couple while we sort out any large issues. But feel free to drive it however you want. Just be sure to keep making the datalogs in the 20 minute range, and get a clean pull in third gear from 2500-7200. These cars rev to 7600 without issue, but I lowered the rev limiter to 7200 based on your concerns.
Overall it looks really good. Might only take one or two more revisions and you'll be set. Feel free to drive it however you want now, keep making the datalogs though.

Got it, I’ll keep making the data logs, I’ll send you the next one tomorrow afternoon. I was just wondering if it was okay redlining that high, I’m fine with it having it at 7600 rpms
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Gotcha, okay. Yeah most guys like them high so we go for the max reliable RPM. I’ll move it back up on the next one for you.
Re: Need help with a base map for my 2012 Civic Si
Great thanks. It coming along compared to the last revision this one feels a lot more better. I feel a lot of throttle response.
