aem 30-3255
aem 30-3255
can this be used with the hondata cop setup? i have the s300 and would like to do the cop setup but don't want to be stuck with my 20 year old distributor that has little to no support. i understand there are only a few of the parts necessary, but the aem piece is 1/3 the size of the distributor and is said to do just that. thoughts?

are you aware of any upgrades to the hardware for the 88-91 prelude distributors(all obd 1 compliant)? i would like to be certain that when the car does go for tuning that there wont be issues related to worn out pieces.
Re: aem 30-3255
We don't offer any tuning solutions for an 88-91 Prelude.

are you sure about that? i am running a p72 with s300 now. this is on the stock b20a5 with some bolt on mods from other honda's made to work.
so getting back to my original question about the aem piece, what is it not doing that the stock distributor will do?
i dont want to come onto your forum talking about other products, but i would like to stay with the hondata unit i have and lose the stock distributor as it isn't up to par with later model honda's. so are you saying the aem isn't going to be compatible with hondata or it just hasn't been looked into?
These AEM Power Engine Position Modules replace an engine's distributor and allow for the use of coil-on-plug or wasted-park ignition systems on popular V8 and Honda B, D, H, and F-series race engines. They provide precise engine positioning using dual zero-speed optical sensors, which offer the advantage of immediate signal generation regardless of engine speed. The AEM Engine Position Modules easily adapt to any positive-drive, half-engine speed device such as a cam or distributor drive. They can be used with any aftermarket engine management system that recognizes the common 24-tooth crank and 1-tooth cam pattern per engine cycle for accurate timing and easy setup. Their unique shock absorbing elastomer drive system eliminates the potential for ignition timing deviation and protects them from vibration.
Re: aem 30-3255
The AEM will not work, you must use an OEM distributor.
Re: aem 30-3255
can i get some technical reasoning here? thats why i posted here. what does the oem distributor do that the aem piece doesn't?
Re: aem 30-3255
It does not provide the correct signals, so it will not work.
Re: aem 30-3255
i heard you the first time you said it wouldn't work and that you don't offer any solutions for the car, so who can tell me why it doesn't work.Spunkster wrote:It does not provide the correct signals, so it will not work.
no offense, but you don't seem to interested in helping me get a solution so can anyone else chime in on this?
above it says correct signals. and they are?
and if the aem piece is out, and please say why with some fact.
what besides the 20 year old distributor can be made to work? are there any other parts possibly from another vehicle that can be substituted to work?
Re: aem 30-3255
The AEM engine position module will not work with a Honda ECU because it does not provide the same signal as the Honda distributor.
