Given the revelation that surfaced this week with Fiat/Chrysler vehicles, the automaker is recalling 1.4 million vehicles (http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2015 ... cerns.html, how hackable are Honda ECUs that have been tuned with FlashPro?
NOTE: Many of the hacks that are recorded are coming through the ECU.
Anyone?
How hackable are Flashpro/Honda ECUs?
Re: How hackable are Flashpro/Honda ECUs?
We don't change the ECU nor interface, so the FlashPro is not relevant.
For the Fiat/Chrysler vehicles, the ECU was not getting hacked, but commands could be sent to the vehicle via the entertainment system via the cellular network.
So with a Honda you'd need a vehicle cellular connection and an entertainment system with the same vulnerability as the Fiat/Chrysler. There's also some other factors like Honda keeps the ECU/VSA/TCS/ABS bus separate from the body bus, which would probably prevent the brakes being disabled (probably ABS/VSA commands) like the Jeep in the news.

Thanks for the reply. Comforting.
I did read that some hackers were hacking into cars through the ECU; hence the reason for my question.
