need help with a tune

Post by all-black »

i went today and dyno tuned my car on a dyno jet. spent about 4 hours on the dyno trying to tune the car. current setup
injen cold air intake
hondata img
throttle body spacer
ported rbc manifold
rdx injectors
bp racing stage 2 cams/ valve train
dc race header
megan mid pipe
magnaflow axle back

turned out very disapointing
207hp and 151tq
horrible numbers for the amount of mods, attatched is a data log of a dyno run this is what the car ran over and over again, couldnt get anything else out of if.
if anyone has any help to knowing why this is running so poor?

here is a dyno printout

It may just be that this combination of parts is not able to make any more power. Or you have a restriction in the exhaust.

i would go with that but there are several people with this setup making very good numbers. i think vtec is not engauging.

get rid of the DC sports header and get a real header that makes good power. Thats is your biggest bottle next from a quick glance.

What about the ignition retard? It's pulling 4 degrees out.
Did you tune the ignition tables at all?

i personally didnt tune the car but yes a lot. i really think it has something to do with load and rpm. if i drive the car in first and press the gas to accel you can feel vtec engauge but if the car is in any other gear vtec doesnt seem to engauge properly and if in 3 4 or higher it doesnt seem to engauge at all. under light throttle about vtec the car bucks and seems to want to engauge but wont.

your header don't match your mods

you need a Buddy club or Hytech

i understand i need a better header. but that is not the reason why the bad tune. why the car runs good under partial throttle but not full throttle.

for sure the vtec is engaging

a Civic k20z3 when the vtec don't work make this

green with vtec, red without

I think you need to try some dyno pull 75% and 100% throttle to see the difference

i dont really have the money right now to pay to dyno the car like i did the other day i spent 4 hours on the dyno it gets expensive... i dont mind dynoing the car again but i want to know where my problem is or some kind of idea what is the difference im seeing between part open throttle and wot.... it seems the ecu is not sensing load properly.... its just two totally different cars with throttle position

VTEC seems to be engaging, you wouldn't have that much power if it wasn't.

You definitely have a bottle neck somewhere.

What size is your exhaust piping? Your setup may be asking for minimum 65mm.
Correct me if wrong but I think the stock TB is 60mm, you may want to try a bigger one or bore the stock one to 64.5mm max(Kingmotorsports offers this service).
Those big cams may be asking for more airflow than your current setup is providing.

You can also recheck your cam timing to see if the cams are properly lined up.
