safe to run in open loop or not

Post by taylorsSI »

i put on my header last night and had my buddy help street tune it. we kept dialing in the af, and then a little later it would go bad again. turns out i ruined my first oxygen sensor when putting it in. my buddy said i should just take out the sensor and plug up the whole, and then run the map in open loop instead of repacing the sensor. is that safe?

mods-

skunk2 exhaust
injen cai
p2r tbs
dc header

do i have to replace the sensor, or is this ok to do? my other friend is telling me that the car needs to operate in closed loop after it warms up, so i'm confused. dont wanna blow up my motor or nothin

Terrible :) 22mpg on the highway on my last trip, don't even bother tracking in town driving. But I deal with -20 degree temps right now, so the car idles a TON which kills the mileage.
