Honda ECU and Hondata S100 with non-Honda engine?

Can Honda ECU (e.g. euro Civic P30-G?) and Hondata S100 be used as fuel only ECU (or fuel and ignition EMS) with other engines than Honda's? Has anybody built such a combination that is tuneable and running well?
