Hondata ability to idle big cam NON VTEC engine.

Post by JaeOne3345 »

i am currently in the process of an 11.8:1 compression all motor sohc with a camshaft duration of at least 270.

usually it is hard to keep this size cam idling with a stock ecu. will the hondata ecu be able to idle a cam of this size comfortably? thank you

Hondata is not a magic box. However, you can tune it to a certain amount of idle. The longer the overlap the crappier the idle. there's nothing you can do about it.

big cams hate low rpm, raising the idle will help you out some. or try to increase the vacuum at idle (choke the tb some more).
Long live the silver box!

duration of 270 a big cam??? Man I'm using a duration of about 265 - 270 for a turbo B18...? Is it that much different with a NA sohc??? Just curious...
