Wideband o2 - Direct Wire or Splice Harness

Post by jgauth4468 »

I'm enjoying my project car of almost 20 years (been sitting for almost 10), just wish it wasn't a Michigan car (we love our salt on the roads in the winter).

Looking for guidance. It goes without saying a wideband is going into the setup. I have available ECU wire harness crimp on pins. Should I only splice the signal from the wideband to the ECU wire, OR can I remove the wire from the ECU connector and replace with the wideband signal wire? Hence, direct wire or splice?

Also, I know that there is the never ending debate on which ECU port location to use. I'm always open to suggestions.

Thanks for any insight.

I'll never understand why no one seems to use D12. You don't have to give up anything to use it since it's incredibly doubtful your engine has/is retaining EGR.

Anyone care to shed some light on this?

This is how I have my current P28 set up. In the past I've used D12 without the capacitor on S300 and with other OBD1 systems and didn't notice any erroneous readings... doesn't mean they weren't present though. Either way I get to keep my ELD :)
