AEM 30-0300 Wideband Digital Input for tuning/datalogging?

I've been trying to gather information about how to wire up my AEM 30-0300 to use with the s300 v3. I will be adding in an additional o2 bung to accommodate the new wideband. It looks like most installations are analog and use the D10 ELD input. I don't see much information about using the digital input for the wideband? Is there some reason for this? I still want to use the stock narrowband o2 sensor and secondary sensor for closed loop operation. Would I still be able to get the lambda tracing through digital input or is this not possible? If I use the available analog input connections on the S300 itself can I still get the lambda tracing or is the only way through the D10 ELD method. I don't really like the idea of losing the ELD functionality. The engine is Obd2b B16A2 using a conversion harness to Obd1 if that helps.

An OBD1 ECU does not use the secondary o2 sensor. You will be much better off using the Wideband for closed loop and using the ELD input for it. The loss of ELD will not adversely effect anything.

Sorry! I do understand that the OBD1 ECU does not have an input for a secondary o2 sensor, I guess that failed to register in my head when I posted. My concern is that I'd rather use a digital input if its available so I wouldn't have to remove resistors in the ECU or disable ELD if I didn't have to. Any information would be appreciated.

so im using the d14 wire at the Ecu, when I set it up I connected to pn 14 so I can read on datalogging, I just haven't set up the wideband to read exactly as the ecu, because I haven't set it up the wideband reads different than the Ecu but I rather use D14 than 10

So im a little confused, do I have to rewire the white wire that I splice at the ecu end? Or I just select the d10 option on the hondata? Because I dont know wich is the d10 pin!!!!

Yes, move your wideband input to D10 (which was originally for the ELD) and disable the ELD in Hondata. My understanding is that the ELD input can take a full 0-5v, but D14 cannot.

If you're looking at the wire side of the D connector on the ECU, it's 2 spaces to the left of D14 and is either a GRN/RED or GRN/BLK wire. You can google image search "honda obd1 ecu pinout" and the first image has a diagram of the connectors.

THANKS DAX SO I WILL BE REWIRING THE WHITE WIRE TO THE D10, SO AFTER YOU SAY DISABLE ELD ON HONDATA? THAN WHAT? AND YES THATS EASY 3 SPACES TO THE LEFT OF D14, ILL DO THAT ONCE OF THE E.R
WHAT ABOUT THE WIRE D14 DO I SPLICE THAT BACK TO THE HARNESS OR LEAVE IT OPEN?

In Parameters on the Closed Loop Advanced tab, select D10 as the wideband input.

In Parameters on the Misc tab, check Disable ELD.

Leave D14 as it is, you don't have to re-wire it.

Look up the diagram on google for the pinout to make sure you are pinning the wire to the correct spot.

The pinouts are right in the s300 help. No need to google. Pins are numbered from the WIRE side of the connector, so D14 is actually to the right of D10.

I would use D12 EGRL instead of D10. ELD is useful for diagnosing electrical issues, even if you decide not to use alternator control. Your engine most likely does not have an EGR valve though, so this is a free input. I’ve never understood why people seem to favor the ELD over the EGRL input, is there something I’ve missed all these years?

With PLX you can use the digital output to the S300 digital in to log lambda. I’m not familiar with the AEM controller so I don’t know if it has a digital out. The caveat is that you cannot use the digital lambda signal for closed loop, only logging. Not an issue if you are keeping your stock sensor or using a simulated narrowband output, but something to be aware of down the road if you decide to do that.

I am currently using the wideband on D12 input and using it for closed loop, it works very well with a bit of tuning on the gains. No stock sensor at all and lets me target other lambdas besides 1. I recommend you look into this method.
