distributor max to get 16 degree after change new coil

Post by excaliburcombo »

hello need some advice as my coil died so replace with new ign coil. After complete replace i want to set back base ignition to 16 degree using timing light.. The distributor go max to get 16 degree. My question is this coil causing the issue.

Here the step

1.Replace bad coil
2. start up engine and make it to normal temp ( after fan on)
3. Set base ignition in SManager to 16 degree
4. Put timing light in 1 spart wire and shoot for crank pulley
5. Recheck back crank and cam timing no off tooth.

You can't use a mark on the cam pully to measure the ignition timing. You must use the single white mark on the crank pulley and a timing light.

Is this a dial back timing light or a fixed timing light?

Has the head been milled? Have the cams been degreed? Are you using adjustable cam gears? What block is this? What head?

The head not been milled. Im using standard B16a cam, cam pulley and engine block. The head stamp PR-4. Thanks for your help.

You cannot use B16A cams in a PR4 non-vtec head.

You said a fixexd dial timing light. Is ist a fixed timing light that cannot be adjsuted, or is it the kind with a dial to set to the desired timing?
