Issue with AFR Commanded going RICH mid gear in 4th and 5th only

Post by BrianJewell1988 »

Any guru's care to take a look at the attached Map and datalogs.....

It's a very early modified version of the Hondata included base map titled "K20a ITR, Toda, 310cc"

My initial thoughts were obviously... Hey, must be a gear compensation, but it happens in the middle of my 4th gear pull, prior to about 7700rpm Im all good in the 13.0-13.2 range then BAM... 11.0ish commanded and actual AFRs.

And then in 5th gear, its OK till 6700rpm and again...bam... 11.8afr commanded.

This isn't happening in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear (which i use to log on the street primarily to not be going 110+ everywhere.)

I'm sure Im missing something obvious in my Parameters settings. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

It appears to be related to the battery voltages as they are different in the different gears.

Interesting. I do see the voltage going from say 13.8 down to 13.2 in steps in 3rd-4th& 5th

Whats weird is at 13.3v in 3rd... no issue. Even dipping to 13.0v at 8500rpm no change in CMMD AFR

In 4th at 13.3v it is solid again then dips to CMMD 11.4afr

And 5th doesn't dip below 13.4v but when it does drop from 13.6v to 13.4v, my commanded AFR goes to shit at 11.9.

Is there any way to compensate/adjust for this?

Looks like my alternator is not 100% by any means so ill swap that out asap too.

It could have to do with the injector dead times as they are directly related to voltage.

Ok good to knkw thank you. I neglected to think of thay as im on stock Injectors, so I more or less ignore them.

Thanks for the help ill start with the Alt and voltage drop tests then go there.

Can anyone take a look at my ELD and BAT Voltage, and tell me what the hell I need to look into. I'm having major problems getting what I'd consider to be a clean AFR due to what APPERS to be either a Weak-ish alternator affecting my dead times at certain RPM/Voltage....OR as you can see me ELD is incredibly jump and swings what seems to be a lot....Wiring? Ground?

Beyond that I'm noticing a bit of Cam Angle ACTUAL vs. Cam Angle COMMANDED variation that I haven't seen before... obviously jumping Angles means jumping Fuel Maps and that's never going to be good.

Any help as always is much appreciated. I've attached a few logs for ref..

Have you tried your ECU in a known working vehicle?

You never mentioned what vehicle this is in.

Ah crap... it is in a 2005 Acura RSX Type S. The motor WAS the original K20Z1, and was recently swapped to a DC5R K20A due to Hydrolocking the Z1.

I'm seeing wiring, grounds, and/or the Alt as a potential issues based on reading g a lot of your other replies to people.

I have tried the ECU with the same tune in another car, specifically an 03 running similar mods on an A2 and saw the same trends but to a lesser degree. Still some cam angle variations vs. CMD, and the AFR curves were same pattern but much less overall "spike" or height so to speak.

Could be that the computer is referencing the WOT comp (cat protect) map. Best I can tell from looking at the map and datalog, the command afr is following that map.
