Kpro Lights randomly not turning on

Post by sergiokazoom »

As title says... Its random when the lights on my kpro do not come on when i turn the key to the ignition. When the lights dont come on, the car starts up fine but leans out, as if the ecu is not loading up the tune i got. If i cycle the key the lights come on sometimes and if the lights turn on kpro turns on the car and runs GREAT and pulls like no other day and doesnt have an issue until i turn it off and back to on position to power up the kpro board. Again, it is RANDOM when it acts up.

When there is no lights, i cant even connect to kmanager or datalog.

Grounds i have are:
-trans to chassis
-timing cover to chassis
-G101 on a downstar valve cover nut
-Battery to chassis
ALL BATTERY WIRES+GROUNDS ARE 2 GAUGE

Voltage is good when car is running at 14+, also battery is tested good as well and tests at 12+ volts.

-Turbo k20/24
-Dynod by DARDAN MALOKU in San Diego,CA
(Said it happenned to him twice on the dyno but believes its a loose connection, had no problem tuning when the board was lighting up)
-tucked chassis harness
-stock untouched engine harness
-odyssey pc680
(Tried oem group 51 battery but still does same thing)
-checked all my grounds and theyre good.... Measured no resistance with a voltmeter

Visual inspection of Kpro board is good, nothing burnt or scarred.
WHAT CAN I DO TO TROUBLESHOOT THE KPRO?

Or what can i try? There is no one in my area with a kswap or Kpro i can test mine on

What is the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

What is the battery voltage at the ECU when cranking the engine?

Might be on to someting here.... Last night i disconnected my ethan content sensor.... Weird enough the kpro will ALWAYS turn on with the sensor disconnected via the analog harness ....

Here is how the sensor is wired up....
POWER SOURCE: tapped into accessory fuse along with my 3 gauges
ETHANOL SENSOR SIGNAL: white wire off of kpro analog harness
GROUND: black wire coming off of kpro analog harness

Am i missing something here with the flex fuel sensor? It is one of the recommended GM sensors listed on the kpro help section

Only number i see on kpro is right below the "K-Pro4" sticker and that is 44329

Battery voltage when cranking is no less than 9.2 Volts

Last night i moved some grounds and sanded down those points.... Newly replaced grounds/all grounds i have now are:

-Battery to trans bracket
-Battery to chassis
-timing cover to chassis
-injector harness ground stil on valve cover

.... This will make kpro not throw the daughterboard communication error.... But when i plug in the flex fuel sensor it throws the error

I do not see anything plugged into the K-Pro board, how to do you have the flex fuel sensor wired?

I just took off the kpro harness to turn on the car....
But tge way to flex fuel sensor is wired is:

GROUND: Black wire on kpro harness for ground
ETH. SIGNAL: White wire on kpro harness
12V : Tapped into accessory fuse along with my 3 AEM Gauges

Try connecting the ground to a chassis ground instead of the K-Pro ground.

It sound like you may have a bad ethanol content sensor then.

UPDATE: Got a brand new GM FLEX FUEL SENSOR P/N:13577429

Still doing the same thing...... when the kpro harness is unplugged the kpro board gets power EVERY SINGLE TIME when ignition is cycled and/or car is turned on and off.....

With the kpro harness attached to the kpro board (only wire in use on kpro harness is for “ETH” input) the ecu will act up funny, sometimes getting power sometimes not...

My 12v power source for the flex fuel sensor is tapped into the accessory (cig lighter) Fuse in under dash fuse box... However i have all 3 gauges also tapped into here..... Would that be affecting the whole kpro acting up while flex fuel sensor is installed?
