OBD2 scanner not connecting

Post by pekkap »

I have a problem that OBD2 scanner is not connecting to ECU at all. Scanners return a connection error message (many scanners tested).

ECU PRB RSX Type S
K-Pro #2986 version 1
Firmware 1.01

I checked a wires, connectors and tested the car's original ECU with the same wiring harness (ECU without K-Pro): obd2 scanner connection ok, wiring outside ECU is working.

I have assumed that OBD2 scanning should be possible. For me at the moment it's not critical what will be a scanning result but I should get the connection established.

What might be a problem / what to check next?

I found out next markings printed on ECU:

37820-PRB-A06
2068-600220

Installation is made by previous car owner and I've been driving it about 6 years now without any major modifications: However OBD2 connection has been problem all the time and now it really should be somehow activated.

Can you post the calibration that is currently uploaded into the ECU?

The calibraiton was tested in an ECU here and it is not the problem. Yuur ECU is probably damaged and there is no way to repair that. You would have to replace the ECU. Since you have a K-Pro you can just datalog in the software and do not need to use scan tools through the OBD2 port, so you could just ignore this altogether.

Thanks for the information and help.

Just one more confirmation that programming the ECU for the correct VIN and disabling immobilizer does not affect directly to scanner connection? And the old version of K-Pro version I have should be compatible for the connection?

Yeah, I can handle the issuea through K-manager but unfortunately at this point I should get the error code information out through OBD2 also.

There is no reason to continue to use an olde version. You should alsways update to the most recent version. However there has never neen an issue in software that would cause the diagnostic port not to work.

It sounds like something is wired incorrectly.
