Swapping ECUs
My friend is getting ready to trade in his RSX S for a S2000. He has the Hondata reflash#4 in his ECU. He would like to sell this to me so it does not go to waste in a now otherwise 'stock' trade-in (I also have an RSX S with modifications). I know physically swapping the ECUs is easy. My question is: Do we have to get both ECUs re-flashed to match the new Immobilizers and Keys? If so, does this have to be done by the Honda/Acura dealer? I hear they are hesitant to do this. Why is this made so difficult to do? These things should be transferable like any other part? Is there anything else that needs to be done to make this happen smoothly? I could really use some expert advice. I've asked this question in 4 different places and got 4 different answers. However, I'm sure the Hondata experts on this site can tell me exactly how to go about doing this. Thanks for any advice...
