The reason we are not encouraging a do it yourself approach is that many people end up with a huge mess to save $6.

If you are capable of installing the parts yourself then you should be able to easily work out the required part specifications and obtain the parts.

The problem is from excessive noise in the pulses from the distributor to the ECU. It is also related to the smoothness of the rpm rise, which is why I think it occurs immediately after hitting the rev limiter. Recommendations: - Use an alternator / higher voltage battery. We've seen many problems w...

Thanks for the datalog, I can see the problem now and are working on a solution. The car looks like an absolute beast.

Look at the MAP when you start the car - it seems to go up in pressure rather than down as the engine draws a vaccum. Look at the MAP parameters in your calibration.

You're on the right track with your testing. There is a inconsistency where the s300 works in your CX but not in the B16/CX. I suggest going back to the basics in the B16A CX: - is there fuel pressure? (ie is the ECU running the fuel pump) - does datalogging show the ECU is getting a rpm signal from...

To calculate gear the ECU really needs to know the ratio of transmission input shaft speed to final drive speed. Tire size/diameter doesn't alter the calculation.

The engine will not run correctly without an air temperature sensor. This is not optional. For a turbo put it between the intercooler and throttle body (OBDII), or in the stock location in the manifold (OBDI).

Get the book, look at the way B5 is wired to the ECU, and see if it normally switched to 12V or to ground.

The gear ratio and final drive values are use for gear calculation, but have no effect on the ECU speed calculation.

The datalog shows the ECU switching the AC as per normal. I suspect that the AC output transitor may be damaged, and stuck on the whole time. You can either try with another ECU, or send the ECU here and we can test it.

You need to start tracing the ac wire from the ECU pin to the ac switch. If you have wired the switch yourself, check if it activates to 12V or when grounded.

The ECU determines gear by speed/rpm. As long as your speed sensor is working and you enter the correct gear ratios, the gear will update as you shift.
