edlocke: no problems with the cooling system

bakeoff: i suppose it might be normal, but it seems strange that it would warm up just fine without a load, but only starts bouncing if i tap the throttle or turn the A/C on

I think the thermostat is a colder one, it came with the JRSC stage 1 boost kit. I have no idea at what temp it starts to open though. About the tuning, I'm going to wait until I can get a WB O2 to do it myself. For the most part the car runs well maybe a bit on the rich side, but none of the proble...

idle tuning/surging

I'm using the base map for the JRSC on a d16y8 in a 98 EX. I have a problem with the idle surging when it's not fully warmed up. The surging will only start if there's a load on the engine from the A/C or defroster, or if I give it some gas. The surging stops once the water temp stabilizes. If I sta...

how do i set the timing with a hondata ecu? i know for the stock ecu the service connector on the harness needs to be shorted with a jumper and then the IAC needs to be unplugged in order to read the timing properly. is the process the same with the hondata ecu? perhaps i just have to do my best and...

Other unused sensors

Since the Hondata system is based of a OBD 1 system I am assuming that the secondary O2 sensor is not used and the wiring is just ignored. I am planning on buying an aftermarket catalytic converter, so I wanted to see if I should even bother having a bung put in for the other sensor. Can I just remo...

something else

I just noticed after looking at the ECU swap table that the knock sensor is deactivated on a stock ECU above 5000rpm due to the inability to distinguish knock from engine noise. Does the Hondata ECU do this as well? If not how does it deal with the noise? If anyone has any experience with the J&...

a few knock sensor questions/concerns

I have recently ordered a s200 from moss performance for use on a d16y8 with a JRSC, and yes I know there are many more options for better power but this is what I'm working with. In any case I wanted to find out what was available for a knock sensor. The stock block does not have a knock sensor nor...

pre-installation questions

I am planning on purchasing the hondata upgrade package for the JRSCand eventually increasing the boost. It's going on a D16Y8 from an EX and I was curious to see if there are others on this forum that have increased the boost from the standard 6psi. What I'd like to know is whether or not the stock...
