USB Troubleshooting

When the SManager software is installed, USB drivers for the S300 are install into the SManager directory and registered with Windows.  However, if the S300 is plugged in before the SManager software is installed, Windows will not find the USB drivers, Windows will disable the S300 and never prompt you again to install the drivers.  In this case we must manually update the USB drivers.

To Check USB Drivers Are Installed Correctly

Connect the S300 to the laptop, switch on the vehicle ignition (but do not start the vehicle), start SManager software, and check the USB driver status on the bottom right of the SManager window. It should say 'Driver Installed'.

A second way to check the USB drivers are installed correctly is to open the Windows Device Manager and check the entry for the Hondata S300 ECU does not have a yellow exclamation next to it.

Updating / Manually Installing USB Drivers

1.Open the Device Manager.

Windows XP: Press <Windows Key> and <Pause/Break>, or right click on My Computer and select Properties.  Then select Hardware and finally Device Manager.

Windows Vista/7/8:  Press <Windows Key> and <Pause/Break>, or search for Device Manager from the start menu search box.

2. In the Device Manager, find the Hondata S300 ECU entry. It normally is under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, but may appear under Other Devices. You will need to click on the + to the left of Universal Serial Bus Controllers to expand the list.

If a yellow exclamation appears next to Hondata S300 ECU, then the USB drivers need to be manually installed.  Proceed to the next step.

3.  Update the USB drivers.

Windows XP: Right click in Hondata S300 ECU and select Update Driver... Follow the instructions for Windows XP)

Windows Vista/7/8: Right click in Hondata S300 ECU and select Update Driver Software... Follow the instructions for Windows Vista / 7 / 8)

4. After the drivers are updated, the yellow exclamation mark should disappear from next to Hondata S300 ECU.

S300v3 (white)

The S300v3 uses a different USB driver than the S300v1 or S300v2, so there are small differences in the USB driver manual update process.

The Device Manager driver entry is located under the 'ECU Hardware (Hondata)' entry rather than the Universal Serial Bus Controllers entry.

Otherwise the update process and driver location is the same as the S300v1 & S300v2 (see Windows XP and Windows Vista / 7 / 8).
