Bluetooth USB adapters

Post by Hondata »

If your laptop does not have built in Bluetooth, then you can use a Bluetooth USB adapter.

Not all adapters will work. We have had the most success with adapters which use the CSR hardware. In every case the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack must be used. See http://www.hondata.com/help/smanager/bl ... etails.htm

Is this post in reference to Laptops receiving the Bluetooth signal from the s300 or Flashpro?

What about USB Type B (flashpro output) to Type A (compatible with BT dongles) adapters?

Would this allow Bluetooth functionality from a non-bluetooth Flashpro?

Your laptop is a USB host. The FlashPro is a USB device. A USB-Bluetooth adapter is also a USB device. You cannot connect two USB devices together; only a device to a host. Also the FlashPro would need to install a Bluetooth stack & know what to do with the USB-Bluetooth adapter.

So, just to be clear....a bluetooth adapter cannot be connected to a non-BT flashpro and be expected to work with the new mobile app?

Correct. If you have a non-BT flashpro, there is no way to make it BT compatible

I purchased the BT adapter in the Amazon Link posted. I selected the car's S300 from the list of available BT devices in SManager. When I get prompted to Pair the adapter on my Laptop (Windows 10) SManager immediately errors out and I never get prompted for the pairing code on the laptop. I have verified that I have the Microsoft software stack is in use for the BT USB adapter.

As a side note: I am able to pair my iPhone using the app and view data without issue

Any Ideas on why SManager is erroring out on the connection?

Have you paired it in the Bluetooth settings of the laptop first?

With Windows you need to try and fail three times before it asks you for the pairing code.

Windows pairing does not seem to error out on the laptop. The dialog box that pops up with the pair button never goes away. As soon as I click the pair button, Smanager throws its error, but the Windows pairing dialog box just sits there until I close it. I have tried closing the Windows dialog and going through the procedure again three or more times as suggested. Windows has never prompted me for a pairing code during this procedure.

What version of windows are you using?

What settings do you have selected in the Bluetooth tab in SManager with the s300 connected via USB?
