WGCMD flutter under 100% throttle

Post by Kyxxer »

Hello,

2019 civic type r
PRL intake
91 octane fuel
91 octane base map w/ improved throttle response tune
Dampened 1-2 gear
0% Ethanol

Under 100% throttle the Waste Gate appears to be fluttering / slowly opening, is this to prevent over boosting?

My main concern is this safe or should I have the car tuned by a shop to get rid of this issue.

I have attached my data log from today when driving the car ..... at 10mins into the log is a great example of the waste gate fluttering

I see the throttle closing, which is from VSA, otherwise wastegate looks ok. Do you have the traction control enabled? It will help stop the VSA intervening.

The only time I notice it is under full throttle at speed / under load so like highway pulls, on the data log at 10mins to 10mins 8 seconds I was doing a pull on the highway and that's where I noticed the waste gate fluttering and the only reason I noticed it is I can hear the recirculation through my intake making a bunch of fluttering noises (little woosh noises). At low speed the VSA kicks in and I understand that 100% but I don't think the VSA is gonna kick in at 80+ mph during 4th gear pull.

Also at 8mins 6 second and 8mins 30 seconds were two pulls that the fluttering was heard these were done in 5th & 6th gear.

8:06 and 8:30 look fine - are you sure those are the right time offsets?

But I did notice that your battery voltage is all over the place.

The wastegate will not make any noise through the intake / re-circulation valve.

I will run another data log tonight and confirm times! Sorry for the confusion, it just seems strange that I can hear recirculation during full throttle pulls. Other then this I have been blown away by your hondata tuner and it’s interface!

I would fix the battery voltage problem first.
