Hello hondata or spunster,

Me (tuner) and my mechanic build an k24/k20 engine for a customer who's car is jdm fd2 type r. I had an interesting issue. When I fasten(attached) the socket to crankshaft position sensor (ckp) engine did not start just crank but did not start (injectors won't sprey and coil won't spark) and when I UNFASTEN the socket engine starts all sensors work (I saw at flashpro manager) but check engine light comes on for ckp sensor.

I changed the ckp sensor with working one and nothing changed.
Also camshaft postion sensors changed and nothing changed.

Any advise ? We still did not find the issue.

Double check all engine grounds are in place and making good contact with bare metal.

Have you switched from the K20 to K24 crank sensor without changing the wiring?

Yes we did not change the wiring but we used k20 crank sensor.
We must use k24 crank sensor ?

The thing that I don't understand is when we unplug the socket from ckp sensor engine starts but it doesn't rev more than 3k rpm.

Today we checked ckp sensor wirings and all good also checked oem ground wirings and they are ok too. Now we stucked. Any advise appreciated.

Someone told me that jdm rrc fd2 type r ecu doesn't work with k24 engine. I don't thik its true but I just want to ask you to confirm.

The only different between the K20 and K24 is the crank sensor, up until the 2009+ US K24 which has a different crank trigger. In that case the sensor location is different and I'm sure you'd notice.

Try the ECU is a known good vehicle. If that works, it is the engine or wiring.

Thank you for reply. We tried ecu on an other jdm fd2 type r with coded the immoblizer and it works.
So we changed ckp sensor, checked ckp sensor wirings. If we check camshaft position sensor wirings and if they are ok to can it be an other wiring related issue or it means issue is in the engine ? I mean an other sensors wiring can cause this issue ?

By elimination it is either the sensors, wiring or cam alignment.

When I disconnect the socket from ckp sensor engine starts and also I see the cranking rpm on flashpro manager (arpund 250 rpm but after start its doesn't pass 3k rpm). When I disconnect both cmp sensor sockets engine doesn't start and I can not see the cranking rpm on flashpro manager, is it ok or I should the the engine cranking when only ckp sensor connected and cmp sensors disconneted ? By the way I really appreciate for replies because when can not find the issue.

There is a problem with the crank sensor / wiring / trigger timing, and when you disconnect it (I presume that is what you mean) then the ECU goes into backup mode and then engine starts.
