P30 + s200 = Check Engine Light

Post by oni »

Here's the setup. '00 Honda Civic EX / B16A2 engine / P30 ECU / Hondata s200.

This is the senario. My check engine light comes on with the P30 / s200 combo. When the code reader is pluged in the read out is "No Connection".

I removed the P30 / s200 combo and plugged in the OEM ECU. No check engine light. Code reader connects fine and doesn't read any errors.

Use the datalogging on the s200 to read the code, or you can use the service check connector and jumper it and read the flashes and get the error code.

If you have the datalogging option you can use the Hondalogger software to datalog and read the error codes as well.

Yeah, I saw that, but I can jack in the OEM ECU and get no errors. So what the hell is that all about?

Use your datalogging software to read the CEL trouble codes.
It's probably something simple like not disabling the knock sensor.
Read the codes, that will give you your answer!

I didn't buy that option and I don't have a notebook PC.

Allright I was able to jumper the diagnostic connector and pull a code. However the code is extremely off the wall. I get code '31 - Automatic transmission B signal'. Any thoughts on this crap? The car is not an automatic.

What is the complete code from the side of the ECU?

Not sure I understand what you mean. The check engine light blinks a 31 which is 'automatic transmission B signal' going by Hondata's guide. The red LED on the s200 is solid also.

I may be reading the code wrong. The light blinks twice and then a third time really fast.
