Question about overall fuel trim

Post by TurboLS »

OK, I was just wondering exactly how this affects the fuel maps. If I set overall fuel trim to "-4%", does that apply it across the board as well as to idle, and for different water/IAT temps and other engine dynamics (assuming I am running closed loop)?? How is the change different when running in open loop?? thanks guys.

Long term fuel trim is only used while in closed loop. It is an adjustment to bring the fuel tables closer to stoichiometric.

So (if I enter "-4" into the dialog box) is it more of an adjustment limit or is it the equivalent of selecting the entire fuel table and hitting "-" four times?? I'm basically trying to run the engine a tad bit leaner than stoich across the board and under all conditions. Also, if I enter in "4" instead of "-4," that increases the amount of fuel delivered, correct?? I just want to make sure Hondata is not assuming that that is a negative number. thanks.

My mistake - I thought you meant long term fuel trim.

Overall fuel trim does descrese the fuel tables as you described.
