Shifting gears while datalogging lambda??

Post by TurboLS »

A couple quick questions:

1.) Do you only datalog while increasing throttle (i.e. never let off the throttle while datalogging)?

I would think so as suddenly letting off the throttle would average in misleading lean numbers.

2.) Do you stop datalogging when switching between gears?

This is what I do now and it is a pain while doing street-tuning:

Let clutch out with gear in 1st > Start datalogging > Gradually increase throttle and load (as best I can) > Stop datalogging at relatively high load and rpm > Stop datalogging > clutch in, shift to second, let out clutch > Start Datalogging again, averaging in values for 2nd gear > etc for 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Am I going way too in depth on this? Does Hondata "know" I am shifting between gears? Thanks for the help.

There is no need to stop datalogging while shifting gears.

Ahhh, sweet! That is music to my ears man. What about letting off of the throttle (trying to hold rpm and varying load levels)? Will that throw off my readings?

thanks dude, you responded to all three of my posts today lol.
