S300 AUX settings/problem?
S300 AUX settings/problem?
Hi,
- S300J 2136
- SManager 2.6.6.0
- Calibration attached.
- Datalog attached.
- '88 EF sedan with a supercharged DOHC ZC
- P28 ECU
- Rywire mil spec engine harness and OBD1 conversion harness
- a specific description of the problem:
I'm trying to run the fan for my heat exchanger off specific conditions set in the AUX tab in Smanager and i can't seem to get it to generate a signal from pin A10, even after the car is meeting the conditions set. The calibration shows figures that are set to just try and get it to switch on (see screen shots) ie: vehicle speed 0, air temp 0 etc... I also have an overspeed chime set to pin A17. Neither pins show continuity to ground, or a voltage reading once the parameters are met.
Both A10 and A17 are being used to trigger relays which subsequently power the accessories.
I have two questions:
1) Can someone look over the settings and see if there are errors in the setup that would prevent a signal?
2) When I try to enter certain numbers in the data field, it'll automatically correct the figure to something completely random. For example, for the engine load field, the car idles anywhere between -14 to -15 psi. However the lowest figure i can enter into the activation field is -14.7. If i enter -14.8 or 15 then the number turns into '538'. Which means this setting can't be set as 'always on'. Same thing happens with the RPM field, the minimum number i can enter is 46 (which doesn't really matter as much as the engine load condition).
Any insight appreciated,

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
For the throttle and speed conditions, try using anything in the lower limit other than 0 as 0 tends to cause issues. Try using a 1 instead.
Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
Thanks, i'll give it a go and report back.
Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
So, i changed those settings and i'm still not getting continuity to ground on pin A10. Although it's hard to keep the car within the conditions set.
The TPS set to 1% as you mentioned, but this means you need to have your foot slightly on the throttle, which in turn increases the amount of vacuum in the manifold up to -15-18psi which is outside of the limit of the conditions (why is the maximum -14????)
Are the condition limits a software error that can be updated and fixed? What else can i try?
Thanks.

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
Can you post the new calibration as well as a datalog with the new settings showing the issue.
Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
Hi,
Sorry for the delay, the car was off the road last week.
I still can't get these circuits to work. Can you please confirm for me whether i should be seeing a positive or negative signal from A10 and A17 based on the settings i have in the tune attached? Any further suggestions?
Thanks.

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
This looks familiar! =P Hey I didn't even notice your car was supercharged, that's what I get for skimming your build thread I guess.
So I would have to agree that your issue lies within the conditions probably. With the load, if it is truly reading in negative psi for vacuum then -14.7 is equal to roughly 30" of vacuum, which is more than your engine could probably ever pull.

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
Gday!
What's a normal vacuum range? I've only been running Hondata since it's been supercharged, so i'm not sure what an NA motor would pull vacuum wise.
Also, i can see in my datalogs that the AUX outputs are switching ON, however the circuits are still not working (although the circuits are working in isolation). I find it difficult to test whether there's a signal on the pin, because the car has to be driving for the conditions to be met.

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
How are you using a s300j On a P28 ECU which is a US ECU that has a rectangular case?
Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
I don't understand the question?
I am using a P28, from an Australian delivered Integra. The Hondata unit was purchased and installed by an authorised dealer. Does this picture help?

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
What does the sticker say that is on the grey plug?
Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
I'm not sure what i was smoking, the ECU is a P75, not sure why i remembered it being a P28. Does that make a difference to the functionality?
Can you confirm the polarity of A10 and A17 as they're currently set?

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
First of all the installation of the s300j into the ECU looks like it was not done correctly.
Second, the ECU you have more than likely does not have the circuitry to operate the outputs you are trying to use.

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
Can you please elaborate on how it was not done correctly?
I contacted the dealer i bought it from (JDMYard) they said they had sent it to Revzone in Victoria (Australia), they're Australia's authorised Hondata installers.
Should I be contacting them to get this fixed?
How do i confirm whether the ECU supports these functions? Shouldn't there be a note on the list of compatible ECU's that certain functions don't work on different ECU types?

Re: S300 AUX settings/problem?
There should be not small wires connected to the CN2 connector on the ECU/s300. It should not be hot glued to the case.
The ECU you have is non-vtec and will not have vtec or iab controls and JDM ECUs do not always have the emissions circuitry to use for some of the extra inputs and outputs.
