Want feedback from Preludes with p72 ecu hondata tuned
I hear mixed reactions about a p72 ecu in the prelude. Some say the p72 feels slower than the stock p13. I want to know anyones reaction who did this. also what system are you using and the specs, like vtec point and rev limit. Im ready to buy an OBD-1 ecu and need advice.

prelude
i used the P28 due to hearing there were problems using the p72 ECU
P28 vs P72
With V3 the P28 and P72 will run exactly the same. With proper tuning the P72 will not make less power than the P13.

Re: P28 vs P72
so you are saying with ver 3 the p28 and p72 will run equally well.Hondata wrote:With V3 the P28 and P72 will run exactly the same. With proper tuning the P72 will not make less power than the P13.
However you are saying with the p72 you wont lose power like you will with the p28 on a prelude.
Is this due to the secondary intake runner ?

yes i understand that.whoojong wrote:i believe he said it will not make less power than a p13 which is the stock prelude ecu.

however if you compare the 2 ecus the P28 will not control the secondary intake runner whereas the P72 will. This will cause a power difference.
Because the p72 can control seconday intake runner as can stock prelude p13 there is no difference in power between the two.
on the other hand he is saying that the p28 and p72 have no tunability problems now with version 3 so they are both equal in that repsect.

I believe any OBD-1 ecu will run the same w/ver. 3 (i.e. S200 system)
If you have any OBD-1 vtec ecu and is tuned correctly (both fuel and ignition) your vehicle will run better than a P13 prelude ecu since the ecu will be optimized to your settings and changes from factory (cold air intake, exhaust, and headers, etc.)
