Usually B16s make more power at the top end but seeing how your torque curve falls after 7200 RPMs you will need to elliminate what your restriction maybe. The stock cats on the 99-00 civics are very restrictive. :( I had a Vortech 00 SI on 10 PSI only put down 225  Deleting the stock cat and ...

A few Qs for the Hondata guys

Could it be possible for the next Hondata Hondalogger or Romeditor 3.x release to incorporate a function to enable the check engine light to flash during knock detection ? I know the K-pro has it but how about the B-series? Also in the S200 Romeditor software there is a nitrous fuel enrichment and i...

Yes and no. To initially download to the Romulator you will need for the car to be shut off. Then when you are making your adjustments the adjustments can be made with the car running. This really helps out during idle adjustments and the autotune feature (which I haven't mastered yet). If any adjust...

Insist on the Atmel At29C256 chip. Other chips are generic and WILL cause problems. I wouldn't chance it by using a substitute chip made in Malaysia or Singapore which hasn't passed any sort of tests. The speed of the chips is also very important. Hondata sells chip set which includes all the hardwa...

Since you don't have a parallel port I would really recommend you use the romulator with a USB to serial Keyspan adaptor. Then once you are done tuning you can copy the file to a USB drive and transfer it to a desktop. Then write the program to a chip once you have the desktop setup with the programm...

Connect the Romulator thru the Keyspan USB adapter and datalog directly thru the serial port. Make sure you select different comm ports for both. Try to get into your device manager thru your settings to see which port does what to figure you the port you will be using accordingly.

The Apexi SAFC is a air flow meter signal alteration device. The VAFC is the same with a switch that controls the VTEC RPM engagement. Now here is my question how does the VAFC change the air flow meter signal on a car that uses a speed density system? You can't alter the MAP sensor signal or you wo...

Just make sure you get the manual transmission ecu only. The A/T P72 ecu has a different board and chip that is very close to the OBD2 chip. So you will not be able to install a hondata system in the future unless you get a manual P72 OBD1 ECU.

You may try to run the Prelude SI A/T ECU since its the only other controller that is available for use on your application. You could also send off both controllers to hondata and have them figure out the differences. However, I do believe that the difference would be from internal software changes...

You obviously have a problem with you entire setup. Are you running on a stock exhaust? I get atleast 160 WHP on NA B16As, 170 WHP on NA B17As and 180 WHP on B18C1s and B18C5s. I usually get atleast 190 WHP on JRSC B16As and 210 WHP on JRSC B18C1s. You need to goto another Hondata installer if you s...

Try rewriting the chip with the same program with the ELD disabled. This fixed the problem I was having with the OBD-1 ecu swaps in the OBD-2 civics.

Youre going to have to get a US RSX ECU or get a hold of hondata directly to see if they could possibly bypass the immobilizer in the ecu for you or program it for you. Since this is a specialized case you may need to spend more than the standard reflash price.

I choose N2O as a last resort power adder. When you have a large turbocharger and need quick spool up or low end I MAY recommend it. Nitrous in my books is junk but to each his own. The system will give you added power with a significant compromise in reliability. Small displacement engines could gi...

You probably have a bad negative cable. Replace it and use the HKS hyper ground system in conjunction with it as well.

You will be using a boost controller for controling your turbocharger output pressure (boost). The hondata system you pick will need to be tuned for your vehicle. Hondata hasn't yet released a system that has an intregrated boost controler. I suppose you could use one of the auto controls and wire i...
